WELCOME to UCSC Lifelong Learners! The UCSC Lifelong Learners is a community of men and women from diverse educational, occupational, and geographic backgrounds who are devoted to the pursuit of learning. We enjoy spirited discussion, reading, and exploring new interests.
For over two decades, UCSC Lifelong Learners have come together to learn, and enjoy cultural, social, and recreational activities. The organization of over 300 members meets on the UCSC campus for a faculty colloquium and social hour throughout the academic year, usually the third Sunday of each month. There are no monthly meetings in July and August. Membership is open to anyone who is interested in lifelong learning. Annual dues are $30 for individuals, $50 for couples. These dues (and any Interest Group fees) are tax-deductible. All are welcome.

Members may also audit UCSC courses with permission of the instructor, or take courses for credit through University Extension Concurrent Enrollment. Like other local community residents, Lifelong Learners 62 and over may take UCSC courses for credit at a nominal fee of $25 per course. Another university benefit includes use of the UCSC physical education facilities with the purchase of a Blue Recreation Card. This last benefit (with an additional discount for seniors) is only $79 per quarter with daily locker and towel service.
As a University Friends Group, we sponsor a book scholarship program and endowment for returning adult students through membership dues and interest group fees. We aim each year to provide at least 20 students with book scholarships through the Silvia Miller Memorial Book Award Program. UCSC Services for Transfer and Re-Entry Students (STARS) offers us a home base on the UCSC campus.
